THE COLUMBARIUM AT SAINT STANISLAUS CEMETERY

The Columbarium Garden will give us a limitless number of available burial sites for the Saint Stanislaus Parishioner. A Columbarium is a modern alternative for burial, accepted by the Catholic Church.

WHAT IS A COLUMBARIUM?

THE STRUCTURE

A columbarium is a collection of niches designed to house urns containing cremated human remains. Each niche is inscribed with the person’s name and dates of birth and death. A niche is a receptacle within the columbarium where the urns containing someone’s ashes are placed.

THE BENEFITS

A columbarium provides a spiritual Site for final resting. It affords Saint Stanislaus parishioners with a final resting place at our church, which has been central to their spiritual lives. This is also a sacred site where loved ones can visit, pray and meditate whenever they want. Columbariums eliminate the pressures of choosing a burial site, casket, vault and monument. Additionally, columbariums limit substantially the financial expenses to include only funeral expenses, cremation, the niche and a plaque.

Rest In Peace Caleb Joseph Slate/In Loving Memory of Caleb Joseph Slate.

I've been a member of St. Stanislaus for over 30 years. My wife and I always wanted to be buried in the St. Stanislaus cemetery, but there were no plots available. The Columbarium was a dream come true. My wife passed in October of 2020 and is now Inurned in the Columbarium. I get to stop by and talk to her everytime I go to Mass. What a great benefit to our entire church.

BRIAN SARRIS

I was so relieved when I found out about the Columbarium at St Stan's. I wanted to have a place for my husband and myself. When I told my children they also were happy that they didn’t have to take care of that. I have been at St Stan’s for over 65 years. A little humor - I told my children I will be at 3rd and Lansdale Ave., Apt. C10.

VIRGINIA MEASE

I have always felt uneasy about having my remains below ground, so I was very happy to learn the Catholic Church now approves of cremation and above-ground inurnment. When the time comes, I will be glad to know that my remains will be in a secure and sacred place where I practiced my faith.

Frequent Questions

Why provide a Columbarium option at Saint Stanislaus?

There are no burial plots available in our cemetery. Cremation is an acceptable method of inurnment for Catholics. Parishioners can be inurned at Saint Stanislaus, which has been central to their Spiritual lives. There are significant cost savings.

How many Niches are available?

Initially, we have purchased two (2) Columbaria, each containing 72 niches for a total of 144. A niche can contain up to two urns (depending on size). Therefore, there is a potential for 288 cremains of individuals with our initial Columbaria. As demand dictates, additional Columbaria will be added in the future.

What size urn can be used?

Double granite front niches are intended to be used for two cremated remains urns. Maximum usable space is 11.5 inches by 11.5 inches by 13.5 inches. So, if you will be placing two urns in a niche, be sure to discuss size of urn with the Funeral Director.

How much does a niche cost and how do I arrange for a burial?

The initial offering cost for each niche will be $4500 for parishioners and $5250 for non-parishioners. Arrangements for burial at St. Stanislaus cemetery must be made thru a Funeral Director.

What is included?

Inurnment Burial Rights in the niche, opening and closing cost of the niche at interment, bronze plaque with two names and dates and arranging the burial of a loved one are included with your purchase. Purchase of the Columbarium niche can be made directly at St. Stanislaus Church or through your funeral director.

What happens if I purchase a niche and decide later not to use it?

Saint Stanislaus has the option to repurchase your niche for the same price at which you purchased it, less the cost of the plaques. The niche cannot be sold to or used by anyone other than those listed on the original purchase.

May I select the niche that I want?

Yes. Niches may be selected by each customer on a first come, first served basis, determined by the date it is paid-in-full.

My loved one was buried at another location. Will there be a way I can have a memorial for my loved one at St. Stanislaus' Cemetery?

Yes. We are planning to have a Cenotaph constructed in the Columbarium Garden. A cenotaph is a monument to someone buried elsewhere.

We are ready to help.
